Friday News

Math: In math this week, students started Unit 3: Using Place Value to Add and Subtract. We add and subtract large numbers every day when keeping track of our reading minutes as a whole, so students are already doing a great job with this!

Reading: In reading this week, our story was "The Sun, the Wind, and the Rain". The reading strategy that we focused on was comparing and contrasting. We are also continuing to work on our reading comprehension!

Social Studies: In social studies we are continuing to move through the beginning of America. Students learned about the creation of the transcontinental railroad and many of the inventions that came about in the 1800s that made life easier for people. They also had a chance to come up with their own invention that might make life easier for people nowadays.

Science: In science, students learned about the different planets and how long they take to orbit the Sun. We went to the gym and did a hands-on activity where students modeled the orbit of all 8 planets around the Sun. We then compared and contrasted how long it took the different planets to make their orbit.

Religion: In religion this week we discussed how Mary trusted God. We talked about the Annunciation, the Incarnation, and the Visitation.
