Friday News

Happy Weekend! Here's a look at what we did this week:

Math - We finished up Unit 4 this week with lots of reviewing and a test today. We did a lot of practice problems that were very similar to the test questions, so I am hoping for some good test grades! We also had some fun with reviewing this week by playing multiplication games. Next week we will start timed tests for multiplication facts and students will be able to clip up as they master each number, so make sure they are studying at home!

Science - Science was interactive this week as we learned more about matter, mass, and volume. Students measured the volume of different objects in the classroom by placing the items in graduated cylinders and measuring the water displacement. We also watched a little Bill Nye on phases of matter which is always fun for all!

Reading - Reading this week focused on reviewing for our test on Monday. We reread all 5 of our stories in our "Be Creative" Unit and focused on defining the vocab and answering comprehension questions. Students made vocabulary cards and presented to the class. We also made a study guide as a whole class and I have typed it up and it has been sent home.

English - On Tuesday, English was focused on learning about Martin Luther King. We read a book on him, discussed why he was so important to our country, and, inspired by MLK, wrote a dream we had for ourselves, our community, and the world. The rest of the week we focused on verbs. Students learned what an action verb is and also practiced writing them in different tenses.

Religion - This week in religion we focused on learning more about the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. Many students shared stories of attending a sibling, cousin, or family friend's baptism.
